Datalex presented at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) webinar "AIR tech player responses to COVID-19" on Wednesday, 29 July with the topic: "The fast path to Dynamic Offer – Unlocking and accelerating the benefits of the next BIG airline retail transformation."

If you missed out on the live webinar, you can watch the recording and read the Q&A below.

Q&A:
1. Datalex is one of the few truly independent tech vendors supporting airlines. Do you think this independence allowed you to react faster to the needs of your customers during COVID-19?

We believe so. We are quite lean, and pretty flat as an organisation which means we can communicate easily across various groups and work together to prioritise customer needs and get a plan of action together with minimum delay.

We try to use as much standard product as possible, increasingly so, but also recognise each airline is unique, so one size community response definitely does not fit all. We know some of our larger competitors can, at times, struggle to cater for the unique needs of an airline in an efficient and cost effective time-frame.

2. How can Datalex assist an airline emerging from this crisis to grow high value revenues at speed?

Datalex does this by delivering its industry leading products at pace. As an example the Datalex Merchandiser product covers all retailing touch-points and points of sale, enabling airlines to deploy merchandising strategies across any channel, generating high value ancillary revenue and optimising traveller engagement at any point in the customer journey. Our time-frame to deliver this product starts from 6 weeks.

As airlines place an even higher emphasis on direct interaction with the end customer, our products allow airlines retail seamlessly in the direct space, website, apps, full omni-channel. This enables a better experience for the traveler and will drive higher conversion rates during this post COVID recovery period and beyond.

For airlines wishing to develop the indirect channel, Datalex is NDC level 4 certified.

3. You mentioned the Digital Configurator, what’s the main benefit for airlines in using it?

The Digital Configurator gives control back to the airline when it comes to making business configurations in production. With a core focus on simplicity, it allows the airlines business and marketing teams bring their business changes to production without involving technical IT teams. This is an industry game changer in terms of speed to market for airline business configurations. The security aspects of the cloud based Digital configurator allow for the appropriate audit and rollback measures.

4. It was good to see Datalex has been relisted on the Irish stock exchange, Euronext. What does this mean for you?

It’s very good news for all our stakeholders, including our customers. Being a publicly listed and traded company means full transparency of financials, strategy, plans, etc. It also means really rigorous governance and financial controls in order to meet the standards needed to be listed on Euronext.

So our customers, and future customers, can be confident that Datalex is financially stable and robust with a high level of corporate governance.

For the future, it also puts us in a good place if we decide to raise funds in order, for example, to invest more in our products and technology.
